Privacy notice

How your detailsare handled.

Last updated 15 October 2026. This notice explains what we collect, why, and the rights you have under UK data protection law.

Who we are

Stones The Jeweller (“we”, “us”) is an independent jewellery house based in London, led by its founder Joshua Vanderpool. We are the data controller for the personal information described here. You can reach us by phone or WhatsApp on 07934 964500.

What we collect and why

When you request a private consultation, we collect what you choose to give us: your name, email address, phone number, what you would like to discuss, an approximate budget if you share one, preferred timing and any message. We use this to reply to you, to prepare for and arrange your appointment, and, if a commission follows, to carry it out. Our lawful basis is taking steps at your request before entering into a contract and, for follow-up about an enquiry you made, our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us.

If you call or message us on WhatsApp, we hold the conversation in order to reply to you. If a commission goes ahead, we keep the details of the piece, the stones and the agreed terms so that we can make it, insure it, and support it in future.

We do not use your information for automated decision-making or profiling, and we do not send marketing emails.

Cookies and tracking

This website does not set cookies and does not use analytics, advertising or social-media trackers. It stores nothing on your device, so no cookie banner is needed. If that ever changes, this notice will be updated and you will be asked first.

Who receives your information

Enquiries sent through the website form are delivered to us by a form-handling service and by email. The site is hosted on servers in the United Kingdom. If you choose to contact us through WhatsApp, your messages are also handled by WhatsApp (Meta Platforms) under its own privacy terms. We do not sell personal information or share it with anyone for their marketing. Where a commission requires it, we may share only what is necessary with the craftsmen, laboratories or insurers involved in making and certifying your piece.

Some of these providers may process information outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on safeguards recognised under UK law, such as adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Agreement.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not lead to a commission are deleted within 12 months of our last contact. Records of commissions are kept for six years after completion to meet our legal and accounting obligations, and for as long as needed to honour any guarantee or aftercare on the piece.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, ask us to restrict how we use it, object to our use of it, and ask for it in a portable format. To exercise any of these, contact us on 07934 964500. We will respond within one month. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Security

The website is served over https. Enquiry details are accessible only to Joshua Vanderpool. Commission records are held securely and shared only as described above.

Children

This website and our services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
