The commission
From above it is a simple solitaire: one oval stone, fine claws, a split shank that opens to hold it. The detail is kept for the wearer. Turn the ring to the side and a row of small diamonds runs beneath the stone, edged in milgrain.
Yellow gold was chosen to deepen the colour of the diamond, so the whole ring reads as one warm tone.
