The commission
Some commissions are an exercise in restraint. The client wanted a stone that would speak for itself, so the work went into the stone: a round brilliant chosen for its light return in daylight, not only its report.
The mount is deliberately quiet. The claws are drawn as fine as platinum allows and the shoulders are set with small diamonds that lead the eye to the centre.
