The commission
Coloured diamonds are chosen for colour first. The yellow was sourced through the trade and set in yellow gold beneath the stone so the metal deepens the colour rather than diluting it.
The halo of white diamonds is cut and set to frame the radiant without competing with it, and the shank is set to the same standard so the ring reads as one piece from every angle.
